Hi! I’m Sharon Scheurer and am one of the co-founders of SpringHouse. I am passionate about specialized services for all kids as well as providing a supportive work community for specialists. I want specialists to stay in their field for the long term. I really believe “burn out” can be avoided! I went to the University of Oregon for my undergrad degree in Journalism (Go Ducks!) and it took me 7 years to decide to go back to school at Portland State to become a Speech Language Pathologist. I am so glad I did! My Dad inspired me with his story of stuttering as a kid and young adult. He loved his SLP and I wanted to make that same difference in kids’ lives. As it turns out, I also wanted to make a difference in the lives of fellow specialists and I’ve been lucky to be able to do both for over 20 years!

I went to the University of Oregon and earned a bachelor of arts degree in Journalism in 1992. In 2001, I earned a Master of Science degree at Portland State University in Speech and Hearing Sciences. It was my privilege to work for many different school districts over the following years. Most of those years I worked for a fantastic, local staffing company where I grew into leadership roles focusing on business operations. I care immensely about the longevity of professionals in school systems and started SpringHouse to make a difference. I strive to be part of the solution by offering specialists a professional home that values and celebrates their work.

I love working but when I’m not working, you will find me traveling, reading or walking my dog.

… made sure that I was the first one to zipline over the cliff in Costa Rica. I was there with other speech language pathologists and we had taken a break from working with students. I knew that if I wasn’t the first one to jump, I wasn’t going to be able to do it. I quickly raised my hand, made my way to the front of the line, closed my eyes and took the leap! I’m so glad I did!
